Course: Grove Crane Level I

Below lists the prerequisite for this course and the course description.

Prerequisite:Crane System Theory (CST) or online E-training of BOTH Mobile Hydraulics & Mobile Electrical AND Crane Technology & Operation.
Content:This program assumes basic operational knowledge of Grove cranes. It will cover domestic units prior to the introduction of the “E” Series units in 1996, and does not cover the GMK product line. We start the course with a basic review of hydraulic Theory, Principle and Hydraulic Symbols.

Our system tour begins with programs covering Grove crane hydraulic systems and components. The attendees will gain an understanding of the hydraulic components and systems through the study of the hydraulic schematics. This will give students a working knowledge of a fully functioning Grove crane and the foundation to learn proper troubleshooting techniques and hydraulic test procedures.

Part 2 will involve basic electrical Theory and Principles along with electrical symbols. Schematics will then be covered to assure students understand the function of Grove crane electrical systems and are a basis for troubleshooting and repairs.

Hands-on sessions are conducted to reinforce classroom studies. Hydraulic/Electrical test benches allow technicians to apply classroom theory to practical hydraulics and electrical tasks.
Objectives:At the end of the course, technicians will be able to:
  • Identify superstructure and carrier hydraulic & electrical components and explain their basic functions.
  • Identification of hydraulic & electrical symbols.
  • Read and understand hydraulic and Electrical schematics.
  • Troubleshoot possible system problems utilizing hydraulic & electrical schematics.
  • Conduct basic system hydraulic & electrical test procedures.
