This 4-1/2 day course includes the analysis of information contained in the set-up and operation chapters of the crane manual. This class will feature the Manitowoc Lattice Crane models 15000 European, 16000, and 14000. (NOT ACTUAL CRANES) The following subjects will be covered during daily classroom lecture time:
- Off loading of crane modules from transport trailers
- Safe assembly procedures of the crane components as shown in the operator’s manual
- Layout and functional properties of all cab controls
- Boom rigging and assembly
- Proper configuration of RCI/RCL based on load chart specifications
- Pre-operational checks daily maintenance and calibrations along with diagnostics screens
Hands-on lab exercises will include configuring the RCI/RCL according to parameters set forth by instructor as well as setting up communications between load links and wireless set-up remote. In addition there will be daily quizzes and homework followed by a final written test on the last day.
Attendees must supply the following:
- Transportation, room and board
- Construction type boots and safety glasses for plant and test area tour
- Proper apparel to perform hands-on exercises in a shop atmosphere
Manitowoc will supply the following:
- An instructor to teach the class and administer the written test
- Documentation and class aides to illustrate assembly, operation and maintenance
- Practical exercises on the RCI/RCL simulator
- A written test on the proper procedures to assemble and set up these cranes for operation
- A “Certification of Successful Completion” to those that pass both tests
- Lunches each day of the course (except Friday)
This course is intended to be classroom only as all hands-on exercises will be performed in a classroom/shop setting by using crane simulation units, not the actual cranes.
